The book of beginnings introduces us to our Creator, the universe and the origin of life, our ancestral roots (good and bad), the origins of languages, nations, death, and hope.

​The entire book of Leviticus occurs at Mount Sinai where God has the Israelites camp after He miraculously rescued them from Egypt. In Leviticus we see the holy character of God in his prescription for godliness and blessings.

The time has come and it is now one month before the second generation begins to enter the Promised Land. Read Moses' three addresses to prepare the nation, witness the charge to a new leader with Joshua, and mourn the death of beloved Moses.

The year is ~740 B.C.; just a little over 650 years since God settled the 12 tribes of Israel in the land he had promised to their forefathers and almost 200 years since the nation of Israel divided into two kingdoms: Judah in the south and Israel in the north. Isaiah was a prophet in the southern kingdom; yet God had given him a great deal to say to all the earth.

Jeremiah had warned the people of Judah to repent and seek the mercy of the Lord. But the priests, false prophets, and the majority of the people did not listen. Now the Babylonians have conquered Judah, destroyed Jerusalem and the temple, and carried many survivors into exile. See how Jeremiah teaches us where to find hope in the midst of great sorrow by trusting the God who wounds and heals.

Exodus begins where Genesis leaves off as God continues to fulfill his covenant promises. See how God re-educates humanity on the truth that He alone is God of heaven and earth.

Numbers is the story of two generations. With the first generation we see a cycle of distrust and rebellion against God that leads to suffering for the entire nation. See God's redemption as he breaks this cycle for the second generation.

See the Lord fight for Israel as he leads them into war through Joshua's direction to liberate the Promised Land from centuries of false religions that caused the inhabitants to even sacrifice their children to false gods in hope of gaining favor.
